Left-wing departments on Wednesday opened a common front in their political family's fight against the immigration law. At the end of a day of negotiations behind the scenes of the Assembly of the Departments of France (ADF), the left-wing group announced that all 32 member communities will not apply one of the central provisions of the text adopted Tuesday. In these thirty territories, including Paris, the Personalized Autonomy Allowance (APA), paid by statute by the departments to dependent elderly people, will continue to be given to all beneficiaries, without taking into account the provisions of the law adopted on Tuesday evening. The departmental councils concerned will set up an ad hoc social assistance system that will target exclusively those excluded from the scheme.
