A corruption ring involving a clerk at the Meaux prison (Seine-et-Marne), suspected of having deliberately made mistakes that led to the release of inmates involved in drug trafficking, has been dismantled, AFP learned on Thursday (December 20th) from sources close to the investigation.
A total of six people, two of whom worked at the Meaux penitentiary centre, were indicted for active and passive corruption by and against a person entrusted with a public service mission, fraud by an organised gang at trial, misappropriation of the purpose of files, criminal association with a view to offences punishable by ten years' imprisonment, confirmed the Paris prosecutor's office.
