Israeli President Isaac Herzog met today with the President of the French Senate, Gérard Lechercher. Herzog said: "This war is an existential war against a terrible, ISIS-like terrorist organization that led a sick, barbaric, sadistic campaign on October 7, since then every day we see a glass of tears that is refilled with unending tragedies. This is an attack that has nothing to do with the issues of disagreement between us and the Palestinians, it is a worldview that came from an extreme fundamentalist view within the Islamic world, a jihadist view that does not believe in any Western and liberal worldview and does not recognize the existence of the Jewish people here in its land, and if we were not here, Europe will be next."

The president added: "We are in a game of nerves that requires us to continue to exert pressure to bring our abductees back. Israel has made it clear that it is ready for a humanitarian pause and continued provision of humanitarian aid to Gaza to facilitate the return of the hostages. We are allowing a dramatic increase in the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza from the very beginning. We can allow 300 or even 400 trucks a day, tens of thousands of tons of humanitarian aid a day. Unfortunately, because of the UN's utter failure, in its work with other partners in the region, they are unable to bring in more than 125 trucks a day. This means that it is now possible to provide three times the amount of humanitarian aid to Gaza – if the UN, instead of complaining all day, did its job."
Herzog added: "We are with you in the same firm line against anti-Semitism all over the world, including in France. This phenomenon must be eradicated and fought mercilessly. Unfortunately, it always starts with the Jews and never ends with the Jews."
