Highlights: The Greek government declared: Free vacation in Rhodes for those eligible - quite a few Israelis among them. The free vacation offer is called "Rhodes Pass" and will allow many tourists who were injured last year, including Israelis, to come to Greece for a week for free. In the coming weeks, it will be possible to register through a dedicated website that will be opened for the benefit of victims of last year's fire. The subsidy will cover the cost of a seven-day stay at any time during the following periods.

Last year, huge fires broke out in Rhodes, while many tourists from all over the world were staying on the magical island • Now, the Greek government is announcing free holidays for those affected by the fires • The Greek government has allocated €4 million for the move • In the coming weeks, a website will be opened where eligibility can be checked

According to a report on the Greek website GTP, the Greek Ministry of Economy announced the opening of the possibility of booking free vacations in Rhodes to those whose vacation was damaged last year as a result of a fire that raged across the Greek island. The free vacation offer is called "Rhodes Pass" and will allow many tourists who were injured last year, including Israelis, to come to Greece for a week for free.

How does it work? Last summer we posted here about the Greek Prime Minister's announcement to compensate tourists affected by the fires. Now, the Greek economy ministry has invested four million euros for those whose holidays were damaged last year by the fires in Rhodes. The subsidy will cover the cost of a seven-day stay at any time during the following periods: March 15, 2024 by May 15, 2025 or October 15, 2024 by November 15, 2025.

In the coming weeks, it will be possible to register through a dedicated website that will be opened for the benefit of victims of last year's fire. The new tax, which tourists are supposed to pay from next year, will not apply to tourists who are entitled to a free vacation.

As you may recall, starting in March 2024, a higher tax will be charged to foreign tourists arriving in Greece. These taxes can reach up to €10 per room in the requested months and up to €4 per room in the less requested months.
