What had arrived at the door of his house seconds earlier had shocked him. It was something of great value that could be of use to him, but it did not belong to him.
A British woman mistakenly received a package worth thousands of dollars and ended up having a gesture of honesty. The story in question made the rounds on social media.
One day in November 2023, the young "LJ" – as she is nicknamed – was at her home in the United Kingdom when suddenly her doorbell rang: a delivery man for a mail service had just left a box at the entrance of her home.
"At the time, I was waiting for a stand for my desktop monitor that I had recently bought. Therefore, I assumed that the box that the delivery man had left at the door was my stand and simply opened the wrapper," the woman recounted on her account @chaos.to.sanity
Once LJ opened the package, he was shocked: "I couldn't believe what I saw," he said. Inside, he found hundreds of gift cards from a local supermarket chain called Sainsbury's.

LJ then tried to track down the owner of the box with the idea of returning it to him. To do this, he looked at the label on the packaging to see if he could find the person's details. After checking the package, she noticed that the box was in her name and her home address. Apparently, the recipient error had occurred during the billing of the gift cards.
How He Found the Owner
After a while, the British woman discovered a piece of paper inside the package with a telephone number written on it. This number corresponded to the purchaser of the cards. "I contacted him and that same day I handed him the box," she said.
