Former goalkeeper and former candidate for president of Paraguay José Luis Chilavert challenged Senator Basilio "Bachi" Núñez to a boxing fight on Friday, who responded to him on social media and accepted the challenge.
The dispute between the two began after the Justice sentenced Óscar Núñez, brother of legislator Bachi, to 11 years in prison for fraudulent administration as governor of the town of Presidente Hayes
"Since you are so handsome in the videos putting on your gloves, prepare the ring at Villa Hayes and all the proceeds go to the Oncology room of IPS (Social Security Institute). File a complaint yourself, if you have proof. I never asked for favors from the corrupt. Everything I have I earned by working; you don't, bandit," the former Vélez and San Lorenzo player lashed out on X (formerly Twitter).
Nunez's response came in the same vein: "I accept the challenge of boxing or UFC, José Luis Chilavert. Let it be in Luque, at the Stadium, in 5 rounds and in two months, so that you can have a good time the holidays".

In addition, he offered him another, more peaceful path: "The other proposal is to sit down to debate and build a Paraguay together and find coincidences, without aggression."
Shortly after, Chilavert ratified the challenge in a dialogue with AM 780 radio: "They are going over the top of the Constitution of Paraguay. They believe they own Paraguay. All the family members live off the boobs of the state. That is why one comes to this conclusion, in this challenge that I have asked Bachi Núñez, he accepts and so do I. We will put date, time and place. It's going to be a pleasure."
"I don't talk for the sake of talking. The challenge is there, the place is going to be set. There will also be online betting, where people will bet, in their own way. And all the proceeds from me will go to the IPS oncology ward. I challenged him, he accepted, fantastic, I'm going to the front. I'll get ready, we'll see the ideal place," he added.
