It has been 78 days since Joy, Alona Yona's dog from Moshav Sde Nitzan, disappeared without a trace. Throughout the day (Sunday), after more than months of searching, Alona received a message that her dog was in the Ramat Hanegev Regional Council. After a short video call, Alona was reunited with her beloved dog.

The dog Joy disappeared from his home on Black Saturday morning. At seven o'clock in the morning, with the sound of explosions and the screams of the terrorists, the dog Joy panicked and ran away. "He became anxious and disappeared from the seat, from that day we searched for him and found no sign," Alona said.

For a long time, Alona searched for her beloved dog. However, 78 days passed and Alona found no sign. Earlier today, Alona received a message that a young man named Einan, a resident of the Ramat Negev Regional Council, claims to have found the dog. "He found it and then posted it in a Ramat Negev WhatsApp group. Someone knew I was looking for the dog and then she contacted me and asked, 'Maybe it's yours?'"

That same day, Alona made a video call with Einan to confirm that it was indeed her dog. "I made a video call and it turned out it was Joy. I went there and he brought it to me." Thus, after more than two months of searching, Alona was finally reunited with her dog.

Alona and Joy's story is not the only one of this kind. On October 7, many dogs disappeared from their homes. Shaham Zaguri, 34, from Emek Hefer, an avid animal lover, decided to help those who lost their four-legged loved ones, and since the war has been descending to the Gaza envelope to return animals to their owners.

"I came to the area near Gaza at first with a friend who is a veterinarian," he tells Walla! About the rescue missions. "They told us that there was a 'brothers in arms' war room in Beit Kama, and then they brought us to the war room for dogs and animals. From there we went out and made rescues. On the first day at Kibbutz Sufa, and then we were in several places near the Gaza Strip. I decided that from that day on I would go there every day. I started getting to know the people, I was paired with an amazing dog trainer named Nitzan, a civilian dog trainer, since when the mess started she went and volunteered there, and we hung out together for almost a week."
