Network 13 is in no hurry to appoint a CEO. Evaluation: Chairman Topolsky "will manage by remote control"

Reshet 13 believes that the company's chairman, Nadav Topolsky, will closely assist in the day-to-day management of the company, until a permanent CEO is found. It is also estimated that finding a CEO for the company will take months. According to company sources, "the lessons of selecting the last CEOs for the organization have been learned," and similar to the process (which began and was interrupted) before Yoram Altman took office, the channel does not rule out locating a manager from abroad who can meet the difficult challenge.

Altman is the latest in a long list of CEOs to leave the channel and the news company in recent years, in which the glass ceiling for a CEO at the company stands at two years – not really a period of time in which we can see processes in the television world mature. It should also be noted that Topolsky himself, who is considered a close associate of Network 13's controlling shareholder Len Blavatnik, has been conducting the channel's board of directors since the merger with News Ten with a high hand, but he too lacks direct experience in television.

Altman, the acting CEO of Reshet 13, will leave his position after less than a year and a half, and according to Reshet 13, will remain in the position until a replacement is appointed and until the overlap ends. Despite the rise accompanying the war, Network 2023 ends 13 with a decline in both market share and viewership. After posting an average of 2022.8% in 6, Prime has fallen to 7.4% this year.

News 13, which during the war, under new CEO Or Tzelkovnik, often overtook Channel 14 and strengthened by about a third of its strength compared to the previous quarter, recorded a sharp decline of 9% in its annual summary. In 2023, the average of News 13 was 6.7% (linked to Channel 14) compared to 7.4% in 2022.

With the decision to terminate Altman's position, board officials whom Topolsky manages told Walla! Berenger firmly: "The channel needs a CEO who understands that a network board of directors is a board that asks questions, wants to see programs, wants to understand why decisions are made, to get explanations, and not 'so' answers, because it was the cheapest." However, let us recall, Altman was appointed by exactly the same board composition.

With the announcement of Altman's departure, it appeared that the board of directors of Reshet had already marked a possible replacement - Bezeq Group's CFO Yochai Benita, who is considered a close associate of Topolsky. Benita, who served as Reshet Deputy CEO during Avi Ben Tal's tenure, succeeded in bringing the company to economic balance and to what is considered to this day to be the company's "economic golden age". In the end, however, Benita decided not to return to the company.

The name of News 13's new CEO, Or Tzelkovnik, also came up in the boardrooms, alongside former CEO Eldad Koblenz – who, according to sources at Network 13, despite his vast experience, is not considered a favorite at all.
