Not only in Gaza: a mysterious and long tunnel was found under the Chabad World Center, at number 770 Eastern Parkway, Brooklyn.

According to American reports, the secret tunnel itself was discovered three weeks ago following a complaint by a local landlord as well as renovation work in the Chabad Center area of house number 770. The initial suspicions of a tunnel were voiced by a homeowner on Union Street, who reported strange noises in his house for some time. The alarming noises caused him to share his suspicions with city officials.

In parallel to these suspicions, municipal excavations were carried out to install new sewage and water systems in the area of the Chabad World Center. Towards the end of the underground project, the excavators reached the point where they encountered the tunnel and exposed it.

An examination of the tunnel found that it begins at the Chabad Women's Mikveh building on Kingston Street, and continues to the Chabad Center itself – all under the street.

When it comes to the question of who dug this strange tunnel and what its purpose was, the American website crownheights.info speculated that it was a tunnel dug during the coronavirus period. It is assumed that Hasidim who were prevented from reaching the yeshiva building decided to go there anyway when they began digging a tunnel that would lead them to their goal. Hasidim began digging from the mikveh under the area dedicated to women at the Chabad Center, when the tunnel was dug under all of Kingston Avenue in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.

When the tunnel was discovered, the authorities blocked it, noting that it threatened the entire stability of the Chabad Center, which could sink to the ground as a result of the act. So far, no suspects have been arrested by the authorities, nor is it clear who will pay for the repair work required to prevent a disaster at the site.
