The Committee of University Heads and the Committee of Heads of Budgeted Colleges have jointly formulated an updated and adapted outline for the start of the academic year in the shadow of the war and the extensive reserve service.

The main outline is the opening of the school year in two phases: As part of the first phase, the school year will open on December 31, 12 (today the school year opened on December 2023, 24 in some institutions). A few weeks later, on a date that will be adapted to the needs of the reservists and the army, the school year will begin in a second phase.
"Normal week"
As part of the second phase, the institutions will hold a "Return to Academic Competency Week" for reservists and permanent servants. During this week, the efforts of the educational institutions will be concentrated in order to bring the servants who join to an equal starting point.
In some institutions, there will be a break in the normal course of studies this week. The date of the second phase will be determined in coordination with the IDF, subject to an assessment of the operational situation and the needs of the war.
Subsequently, the school year will be conducted in accordance with the detailed outlines published by the institutions. This outline adds to all the previous adjustments and agreements reached by all the bodies, regarding accommodations for students serving in the reserves and permanently.
The heads of research universities and budgeted colleges reiterated their commitment to do everything in their power to ensure that no student is left behind. In some educational institutions, the opening date is different and individual outlines have been constructed. Precise details will be provided to students at each of the institutions.
