In Sardinia there is a tzilleri with a small stage that hosts musicians, singers, producers, where rock, electronic, jazz, traditional music are played. We chat, we meet, we talk about culture, art and poetry.
This is the setting of "In su corru 'e sa furca", a twelve-episode TV series in Sardinian language available online on Youtube and Vimeo.
Produced by Karel and directed by Davide Melis, written by Davide Melis together with Giacomo Casti and Diego Pani and made on the Imprentas call of the Sardinia Region, it is a documentary series with fiction inserts that act as a glue between animators and animators of Sardinian culture: the sociologist Ester Cois, the musician Francesco Medda, the historian Omar Onnis, the writer Rossana Copez, the poet NinoLandis, the journalist Francesco Abate, among the names.
The owner of the bar Su corru 'e sa furca, played by Giacomo Casti, welcomes the patrons and guides them in conversations with a light and informal tone on history, current affairs, art, music: the series therefore tells the story of Sardinian society through the point of view of its protagonists and shows an extremely varied world. Starting from its own language, which even in its many facets is capable of making the souls of Sardinia dialogue on very different themes. The film promotes the value of conversation and mutual understanding, emphasizing how important it is to maintain physical places where people can share thoughts, art, and ideas.
"The structure of the series more closely follows the canons of narrative cinema rather than those of documentary - explains the director - There are no on-camera interviews or voice-overs but spontaneous dialogues typical of bar talks, with quick exchanges of jokes emphasized by fast editing. The use of Sardinian - Melis clarifies - represents an aspect of language: too often confined to a functional language to express traditional or familiar contexts, in the series it is used to discuss modern and contemporary themes such as auteur cinema, fiction, pop music, punk, rock and jazz; represents a linguistic experiment that opens up possibilities for international distribution thanks to the growing interest in minority languages in the world."
