Chelsea, a team coached by Mauricio Pochettino and without Enzo Fernandez due to injury, lost this Sunday to Wolverhampton by 2-1, as a visitor, at the end of the 18th round of the Premier League. The goals for the home side were scored by Gabonese Mario Lemina 5 minutes into the second half and Matt Doherty in the third minute of stoppage time.

Chelsea, after missing several chances, reached stoppage time in the fifth minute of stoppage time through French striker Christopher Nkunku.

After 28 years, the Premier League had a match in the run-up to Christmas Eve but in the face of criticism received for the demanding schedule they have already warned that next year it will not be scheduled again on this date.

Enzo Fernandez was left out of the squad due to the hernia that forced him to come off 30 minutes into the first half of last Tuesday's match against Newclaste for the League Cup, but he was still at the Molineux stadium to accompany his teammates.

The World Cup winners hope to return next Wednesday 27 against Crystal Palace, at home, or on Saturday 30 against Luton, away.

Pochettino's side suffered their fourth straight away defeat and with 22 points sit in tenth place, 18 behind leaders Arsenal.

Wolves, on the other hand, matched their opponent's line and returned to victory after two rounds.

Chelsea had two very clear chances during the match, the first in the 31st minute of the first half through Raheem Sterling who missed an incredible one-on-one when he had two teammates next to him and in the second half, at 18', the Portuguese Toti saved on the line a shot by Frenchman Christopher Nkunku that could have been 1-1.

With this match, the 18th round closed and next Tuesday the new day will open with five matches of the traditional "Boxing Day", among which Manchester United-Aston Villa and the visit of the guard Liverpool to Burnley stand out.
