Islamic Jihad deputy secretary general Mohammed al-Hindi said Sunday evening that "the Palestinian factions will examine the Egyptian initiative and declare their position on it." He noted that the terrorist organization was unaware of what Reuters reported about the rejection of the initiative: "We affirmed our congratulations on any effort to stop the attacks on our people before talking about a prisoner exchange."
According to Al-Hindi in an interview with Al Jazeera, "The Egyptian initiative talks about stopping Israeli aggression in stages and does not mention any number on the issue of prisoner exchanges."

Regarding the idea of establishing a technocratic government in the Gaza Strip at an advanced stage of the arrangement, which was only reported in the Arab media, Al-Hindi said that "the Palestinian consensus will define the form of government in the West Bank and Gaza Strip." He stressed: "What interests us now is a complete and comprehensive ceasefire in Gaza and the West Bank and the future of Palestine."
On Sunday, the Egyptian initiative was presented, which included three stages, including a humanitarian pause, the establishment of a provisional government and the release of hostages from both sides. According to the proposal that was formulated, a technocratic government would later be established to deal with the issue of rebuilding the Gaza Strip while preparing for general elections. According to Egyptian sources, Hamas and Islamic Jihad refused the Egyptian offer to end their control over Gaza in exchange for a full ceasefire, but Islamic Jihad now rejects the reports and claims that they are willing to examine the proposal.
