Due to the threat of flooding at the flooded Kelbra reservoir and the Helme, the Mansfeld-Südharz district (Saxony-Anhalt) has called on the residents of the village of Thürungen to evacuate. "All residents are called upon to leave their homes by 18:00 p.m. at the latest," a spokeswoman for the district said on Tuesday afternoon.
Sangerhausen - It is about 180 people.
They were told to go to relatives or acquaintances. An emergency shelter has been set up in Ziegelhüttenstraße in Kelbra. Thürungen belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde of Goldene Aue.
After the continuous rainfall in the past few days, the Kelbra reservoir has reached the limit of its capacity, and there is a threat of flooding in the villages along the Helmen. According to the district, places in the municipalities of Goldene Aue, Südharz, Sangerhausen and Allstedt are affected. There, too, residents should prepare for possible evacuations. Dpa
