Reggio Emilia is gearing to rememberthe Cervi brothers, eight siblings who formed one of Italy'sfirst Resistance bands and were executed by the Fascists onDecember 28, 1943.
A slew of events are planned in the Emilian city Thursday tocommemorate Gelindo, Antenore, Aldo, Ferdinando, Agostino,Ovidio and Ettore Cervi, shot by a Fascist firing squad alongwith an eighth partisan, Quarto Camurri.
They were caught along with their father Alcide in a Fascistsweep on November 25.
The eight partisans were executed in retaliation for theDecember 27 assassination of the town council secretary atBagnolo in Piano, Davide Onfiani.
