Donald Trump rails against his opponents on his social media platform. Criticism comes from within his own party – Trump "is not a Christian."

Chicago – Donald Trump has once again vented on his social media platform Truth Social. At Christmas, he dished out several heated posts against political opponents and his legal persecutors. This does not seem to go down well with everyone in his own party.

Trump's verbal gaffes are rarely surprising. But after the posts on Truth-Social, former Republican congressman Adam Kinzinger is now even questioning Trump's Christian orientation. Last Tuesday (26 December), he railed against the ex-president of the USA on X (formerly Twitter): "Trump is weak, puny, smelly, stomach-ache-inducing, but he is not a Christian and he is not a 'man of God'."

Trump tells his opponents to "burn in hell"

The statements of the Republican presidential candidate have it all. In addition to the already well-known camels against the Democrat and direct political opponent Joe Biden, the "woke military" or electric cars, Trump also expresses his opinion on the ongoing prosecution against him. "Merry Christmas to all, including the last hope of crooked Joe Biden, the deranged Jack Smith, the out-of-control madman who has just hired outside lawyers fresh out of the swamp to help him with his poorly executed witch hunt against 'Trump' and 'MAGA.'"

In his post, Trump also continues to fuel the conspiracy theory that the upcoming U.S. election will be "stolen" by the Democrats. A similar statement about Joe Biden's victory, which allegedly led to the storming of the Capitol on January 6, 2021, is the subject of a lawsuit against the former president. At the end of his "Christmas message" he wishes all those addressed a "Merry Christmas" and adds: "May they burn in hell."

Party colleague accuses Trump of being "not a Christian"

Kinzinger does not want to simply accept his party colleague's Christmas message. On X, the former MP wrote: "I'm NOT going far out of the window here: This man is not a Christian. If you're a Christian and you support him, you don't understand your own religion." Attached to the post is a hashtag with the words "Trump stinks."

In the comments on Kinzinger's post, there are numerous Trump supporters. One writes to the Republican: "If you were a Christian, you would know that the Bible says, 'Judge not, lest ye be judged.'" In addition to criticism of the post, some people also emphasize their support.

Expert accuses Trump of panicking about "internal polls"

Politicians "usually keep their Christmas messages positive, emphasizing gratitude and hope for better days — and staying away from political conflicts," political science professor Grant Davis Reeher told Newsweek. Trump, however, is clearly out of line. Does the ex-president feel threatened by his Republican opponents?

At least according to the expert, this could be the reason for the harsh words. For Reeher, Trump's post suggests "that he's seeing some internal polls that he doesn't like, and that he's trying to use a more extreme version of the verbal tactics that worked for him in 2016 to reverse recent trends."
