The State Prosecutor's Office today (Friday) filed an indictment in the Central District Court against Ayman Ashiwi, 51, a 39-year-old teacher from Hura, and two minor relatives, for murder, after they planned and carried out the plan to stab Aya Hajaj to death when she was 30 weeks pregnant, in front of her two minor children.

The indictment, filed through the Central District Attorney's Office by attorneys Sharon Mashaal and Eliran Ashkenazi, indicates that Ayman is married to a teacher, and this is his second marriage. The two minors are their relatives. The late Aya Hajaj is Ayman's daughter from his first marriage. Aya was married, lived in Lod, had three small children, and was 30 weeks pregnant. The background to the murder stemmed from the fact that Ayman asked his first wife to return to live with him and his family in Hura, but she refused, and Aya and her sisters supported their mother's refusal. Therefore, Ayman harassed and threatened her and her sisters, and on 29 November 11, after formulating a concrete plan, he decided to kill his daughter.

Ayman shared the plan with his minor relatives, and they decided to join and implement it. For that matter, the three met in the yard of Ayman Bahara's house, agreed that the minors would drive to Lod in the early morning armed with a knife, wait for Aya outside her home, and when they spotted her, one minor would get out of the car and stab her to death, and the two would flee the scene, with the other minor driving. That day, they stole a license plate and installed it on the car Ayman's son had brought for them.

That evening, in accordance with the plan and under Ayman's instructions, the minors went to Lod dressed in black with black face masks and a knife. On 30 November 11, at around 23:<> A.M., they parked under Aya's house and ambushed her. When she left at eight o'clock in the morning with her two children, aged four and five, the minor got out of the car, charged at her and began stabbing her from behind. He continued to stab her even when she tried to defend herself and when she was lying on the floor, her back, chest and leg, in front of her children. He then got into the car and the two fled. Bystanders called for help, but Aya arrived at the hospital with no signs of life. The doctors performed an urgent cesarean section in an attempt to save the fetus, but it too was removed dead.

The minors, who fled to Hura, removed the stolen license plates from the car and threw the knife into a fire in the yard. Ayman washed the minor's hand, which had been injured during the stabbings, and a teacher bandaged him. The second minor tried to formulate a "I was somewhere else" argument and began walking around places where cameras were installed. During the arrest of one minor, a teacher sent a voicemail to one of her sons and briefed him on what to say in the testimony in order to obstruct an investigation.

The indictment includes another charge, relating to an incident that occurred in April 2022, in which Ayman was sitting in Aya's yard with two of her brothers and, for some unknown reason, began attacking her, punching her in the face, pulling her hair and kicking her while she was on the floor begging him to let her go. Aya's husband heard the screams and went out into the yard and tried to move him, but Ayman pulled out a knife and threatened her husband to move away. Aya's mother, Ayman's wife from his first marriage, heard the screams, separated them and took her to the hospital. In this indictment, Ayman is charged with serious injury to a family member.

The indictment charges Ayman and the two minors with aggravated murder together, changing the identity of a vehicle or part of a vehicle, and obstruction of justice. One of the minors is also charged with driving without a valid driver's license (which he never issued), and driving without insurance. The teacher is charged with obstruction of justice. In addition, a request was filed for detention until the end of the legal proceedings against Ayman and the two minors.
