After 53 days in hospitalization at Shaare Zedek, Elisha Medan, who was critically wounded in the fighting in Gaza, is released for rehabilitation: Elisha was injured in the terrible explosion in a house adjacent to a mosque in the northern Gaza Strip, in which four of his fellow reservists were killed and six were wounded.

Elisha was critically wounded and underwent a long series of treatments at Shaare Zedek that included surgery, plastics, orthopedics and more. Now, after a long hospitalization of 53 days and arduous treatments, Elisha is being released for rehabilitation at Tel Hashomer.

Upon his release from the hospital, Elisha said: "The doctor who evacuated me in Yas'our insisted on evacuating all the wounded here. It's a great miracle that I landed here and not in another hospital. There is no way I would be so healthy, happy, and optimistic without you. Thank you so much for saving my life."

Dozens of Shaare Zedek staff members said goodbye to Elisha with great joy and excitement, saying, "We met a hero who fought heroically together with his friends. Elisha's coping, his mental and physical strengths, gave us great inspiration. We came to strengthen and came out stronger. We wholeheartedly wish Elisha and all those wounded in the war a speedy and easy recovery."

Shaare Zedek Medical Center Director General Prof. Ofer Merin told Elisha, "Each of us has a part in your recovery. But the main right is yours. Your energy, your desire. We need it within a team. The main right is yours. Thank you to the wonderful staff. May we see soldiers come out and visit."
