Dr. Nira, a dermatologist and graduate of Harvard Medical School, has revealed an easy and natural way to maintain youthful, wrinkle-free skin. The expert, known as @dermatologysurgeon on TikTok, shared this health tip in a video that has since amassed more than 80,000 views.

"I advise my patients to consume three handfuls of tonsils every day. Almonds are a natural remedy for wrinkles," the doctor declared. She added: "A 16-week clinical trial showed that women who consumed about three handfuls of tonsils a day had a significant reduction in wrinkles and pigmentation."

Skincare is a key part of overall health and it's never too early to start taking care of our skin in particular. Research shows that the skin—the body's largest organ—is affected by a variety of factors, including diet, environment, and daily activities. While aging and wrinkles are inevitable, natural methods can help slow down the process, eliminating the need for invasive measures like plastic surgery or Botox.

As we start a new year, prioritizing skin health is a sign of smart dietary decisions. Dr. Nira, who graduated from Harvard Medical School and earned a skin cancer scholarship, also emphasized the realistic fact that diet alone is not enough.

"Eating almonds may slightly but not dramatically improve wrinkles, but more research is needed. For best results, apply daily sunscreen, use an antioxidant serum with vitamin C and incorporate retinoids into your routine," she told the New York Post.
In support of her claim, Dr. Nira referred to a 24-week clinical study by the University of California, Davis published in MDPI Journals in 2021. The study found that women who consumed about 400 calories of almonds a day — or about three handfuls — experienced significant reductions in fine wrinkles and hyperpigmentation.

According to the New York Post, the study, which included 49 postmenopausal women, reported a 16 percent reduction in wrinkle severity and a 20 percent reduction in hyperpigmentation after six months. What's more, the women who ate almonds enjoyed increased skin moisture on their cheeks and forehead at the end of the study.

While almonds aren't a magic bullet for wrinkles, they're a delicious, natural way to support skin health. Remember, a handful of almonds a day keeps wrinkles away!
