Highlights: OC Central Command: Reservists who were released should be allowed to continue carrying weapons in Judea and Samaria. In light of the situation and after inquiries that reached the editorial board of Israel Hayom, Yehuda Fuchs instructed his men to allow residents who had been recruited not to store their weapons upon their return home. "Throughout the country, people who are much less professional than fighters and commanders have weapons", said one of the fighters. The decision was made with the understanding that this is a force multiplier for a sector that has been considered challenging in recent years.

Central Command Maj. Gen. Yehuda Fuchs ordered today (Tuesday) to allow many reservists living in Judea, Samaria and other areas throughout the Central Command to carry their weapons, even though they have currently been released from reserve duty. The decision was made with the understanding that this is a force multiplier for a sector that has been considered challenging in recent years, especially since the beginning of the war.

In recent weeks, masses of reservists who fought in the Gaza Strip and underwent intensive training in northern Israel in preparation for possible fighting have gradually begun to be released. Upon their release, there was a demand on their part to continue to possess the weapons they had received in order to secure their surroundings in light of a possible threat.

Israel Hayom received inquiries from fighters who wanted to take possession of the weapons, even though they are not currently in reserve. "In the coming weeks, many reservists from the various sectors are going to be released to the communities, where they will be forced to store their weapons," said one of the fighters. "All over the country there are weapons scattered among people who are much less professional than fighters and commanders who are now returning from Gaza."

In light of the situation, Commander Yehuda Fuchs instructed his men to allow fighters from the 551st Brigade, a reserve commando brigade, which is under the responsibility of Central Command, to continue carrying weapons. It should be noted that not all details are closed yet, but this is the principle instruction given. As far as is known, there is no similar directive to other units that are not under Central Command.
