Hottest December since 1960
Meanwhile, Dr. Amos Porat, head of climate services at the Israel Meteorological Service, published a survey according to which last December was considerably warmer than average. Compared to the past, it ranks second in a series of spatial measurements that began in 1950, when only December 1960 was warmer.
In terms of rainfall during the month, these rains were characterized by regional variation – in the north of the country the amounts exceeded the average while in the center of the country they were smaller than average. In the south of the country there were rainy areas alongside areas with little rainfall. The number of rainy days in December was close to average in the north of the country and smaller than average in the center and south of the country.
