Four days after the resignation of Government Companies Authority Director Michal Rosenbaum, Minister of Regional Cooperation Dudi Amsalem decided to temporarily appoint Yaakov (Yanki) Quint as director of the Government Companies Authority until a permanent director is elected.

At this moment, it is not yet known who will be the candidates to replace Rosenbaum in the position permanently, after a search committee will be established in favor of the appointment.

Rosenbaum sent a strongly worded letter to Prime Minister Netanyahu on Saturday night, attacking the minister in charge of her and the prime minister for not "restraining," as she put it, Amsalem.

Following Rosenbaum's resignation, "Minister of Regional Cooperation Dudi Amsalem has decided to temporarily appoint Yaakov (Yanki) Quint as director of the Government Companies Authority until a permanent manager is elected," Amsalem said in a statement.

Quint, who currently serves as chairman of the Israel Land Authority, previously served as director of the Government Companies Authority from 2017-2020. He will simultaneously fill the position until a permanent director is elected to the authority.

"Wild personal slurs"

After Amsalem repeatedly attacked her and called for her ouster, on Saturday the director of the Companies Authority, Michal Rosenbaum, announced that she was resigning from her position. In her resignation letter to the prime minister, Rosenbaum attacked the government's conduct in general and Minister Amsalem's attitude toward it in particular. "Minister Amsalem lashed out and hurled wild personal slurs at me, in blunt, crude and ugly language."

"When this is how the prime minister operates, it should come as no surprise that no other entity has arisen to restrain the minister and act to protect the civil service," Rosenbaum told her associates, adding that "I will not sit in the front row and watch the destruction of government companies. From the moment the threshold was breached, I can no longer fulfill my mission and protect the government companies."
