Qusai Abbas was convicted of serious terrorist offenses of attempted murder, throwing stones at vehicles and intentionally sabotaging a vehicle with racist motives and rioting. A little more than a month after Qusai Abbas, one of the perpetrators of the lynching in Acre during the Guardian of the Walls events – a victim of the brutal lynching – Mor Janashvili appealed to the State Prosecutor's Office to appeal to increase the terrorist's punishment.

Abbas was sentenced to 17 years in prison and monetary compensation of 180,<> shekels. Attorney Haim Bleicher of Honenu, an organization representing Janashvili, argues that in light of the severity of his actions, Abbas should be given a much heavier punishment.

"There is no doubt that this is significant and important punishment in such incidents of attempted murder, but from an examination of the details of the case, it appears that the punishment misses its purpose and is not enough to express the depth of revulsion against the acts. The behavior of the defendant who hits a man on the head with a stick while drinking blood, with his eyes open and no longer even able to scream is a barbaric and cruel act that characterizes a culture of evil and deep hatred."

Abbas was convicted of serious terrorist offenses of attempted murder, throwing a stone at a vehicle and willfully sabotaging a vehicle with racist motives and rioting.

Barbaric and morbid behavior

In his letter to the State Prosecutor's Office, Attorney Bleicher describes how Abbas beat Mor mercilessly: "As my client fled from the car, dozens of rioters began beating him with wooden clubs, iron bars and stones. One of the terrorists knocked my client to the ground while the other terrorists continued to beat him on the head and cut his face with all kinds of corrupting tools."

"While my client was lying on the road, bleeding from all over his head and unconscious to the point of unconsciousness, the terrorist took the leg of a table and hit him in the head. No less shocking is the terrorist's description of how he committed the attempted murder, as quoted in the verdict as follows: 'I myself with the club I had came to the driver and hit him on the driver's head with one blow, he was lying on his back and his stomach was up to the Jew, there was all blood, he didn't shout anything, the driver had open eyes and his whole head was blood...' Bleicher described.

"Precisely in our era, after the unimaginable horrors we have all experienced, there is an emphasis on deterrent and powerful punishment for horrific acts of terrorism with barbaric characteristics. The terrorist's barbaric and morbid behavior cannot stand in his favor in that he did not prepare the attack properly in advance and that he is a man of a barbaric nature. The place of barbaric Hamas terrorists, even with blue ID cards, is not among the citizens of human society."
