Demonstrators in Schleswig-Holstein tried to storm a ferry on Thursday that the economy minister was on.

Munich – There are frightening scenes that were shared on Thursday evening (4 January) on the short message service X (formerly Twitter). A group of people tries to gain access to a ferry via a jetty, which is just docking at it. Stewards in high-visibility vests try to prevent the breakthrough with full physical effort. In the background, whistles and trumpets can be heard. On board the ferry was apparently none other than Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens).

Habeck intercepted by farmers – demonstrators tried to storm ferry

More than 100 farmers had blocked the quay in Schlüttsiel (Schleswig-Holstein) in the evening to receive the Minister of Economic Affairs. This is reported by the Bild newspaper, citing the Flensburg police department. Parts of the demonstrators then tried to get on the ferry before it departed with the minister on board.

"We were surprised by the protest, and in the end we were deployed with about 30 officers. But the situation could not be calmed down, the ferry with the Federal Minister of Economics finally had to leave again and go back to Hallig Hooge," said a spokesman for the police of the Bild newspaper. In the meantime, however, the situation has calmed down again. Habeck had been on holiday on the North Sea island. (fd)
