Ever Banega will play for Newell's. At least that's what the president of the Rosario club, Ignacio Astore, said, who was optimistic and said that the negotiation is very advanced. "The film isn't finished yet, it's well underway. But details are missing, the lawyers are talking," he explained in dialogue with TyC Sports.
"We have already agreed on the numbers, on the conditions, on the forms. They just have to finish the contracts both on the side of Ever and the institution, to make them and they are signed," Astore later added.
The one who had taken the lead to keep Banega's services was Boca. In the epilogue of 2023, everything indicated that the Football Council headed by Juan Román Riquelme, the new president of the Ribera club, had already agreed "verbally" with the player to return to the club. However, at the dawn of 2024, the story was turned upside down, Newell's got in the middle and stayed with the Rosario footballer.

"We consider him to be a player of the institution. On some other occasions we have looked for him and we have had no luck because of the contracts he had and we called him a couple of months ago, things happened so that he could return and hopefully we will finish, as all the people want, that he is in our institution," Astore clarified.
And he added: "There is a leader who has a very good relationship with Ever and the dialogue is permanent. It's not that we took a player away from Boca, I don't want to take that attribution at all. Things came together so that Newell's could get into the conversation and hopefully it will come to fruition."
"We don't know what offer Boca made him or when they made it. I don't think it's coming for the money alone, I think it's coming for the sporting challenge. But that's something they have to ask him," the leader concluded.
