Rarely does the term "legal drama" take on such a physical meaning. The Clark County courthouse in the U.S. state of Nevada became the scene of a scuffle when a man jumped on a judge and injured one of the court's guards.
Deborah Redden, 30, a Las Vegas resident with a rich history of violence, was awaiting sentencing for violently assaulting Jose at the criminal institution where he was incarcerated. Judge Mary Kay Holthos refused a request by Redden's lawyer to give him a probation attack, instead of sending him to prison. "I think it's time for him to get a taste of something else," the judge said, and then the convicted man lost his cool.

Redden is seen running across the courtroom and leaping towards the judge, who bends down in panic. Redden is seen in the security camera video leaping, arms and legs outstretched, landing on the frightened judge. The judge managed to evade the enraged criminal, with court guards jumping on him in order to neutralize him.
The local police station told Fox News that the judge was injured, but not in a way that required medical attention. The court guard who helped subdue Redden needed medical attention. He was hospitalized in moderate and stable condition.
"We commend the heroic action of the court staff, guards and everyone who participated in subduing the attacker. The court remains committed to security in all courtrooms and justice. We are reviewing the procedures and will do whatever is necessary to protect judges, court staff and the public," the court statement said.
