Coach Fernando Diniz was fired on Friday from his position as technical director of the Brazilian national football team and the main candidate to replace him is Dorival Junior, currently at São Paulo, local press reported. According to the GloboNews news network, Diniz was fired by decision of the president of the Brazilian Football Confederation, Ednaldo Rodrigues, a day after being reinstated to the position by a request of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), in the midst of an institutional crisis in the entity of the five-time world champions.
Diniz, also coach of Fluminense and champion of the 2023 Copa Libertadores de América, was appointed this year to lead the Brazilian national team on an interim basis pending the promised hiring by Rodrigues of Italian Carlo Ancelotti, who finally renewed his contract with Real Madrid, of Spain.
Fernando Diniz's time with the Brazilian national team lasted six matches, all in the South American Qualifiers.
