New York's attorney general on Friday sought to impose a $370 million fine on Donald Trump and his associates as part of the civil trial against the former president for financial fraud he committed through his alleged business dealings.

Initially, it was said that the prosecutor, Letitia James, would seek to impose a fine of about $250 million on the defendants in the case as part of an indictment for issuing false financial statements, falsifying business records and insurance fraud.

Civil law on the matter began last October, but the court has yet to make a decision on the matter. The lawyers are expected to present a summary of their arguments next week, and the judge in the case, Arthur Engoron, is expected to rule on the matter by the end of the month.

Judge Engoron has previously ruled that Trump and the other defendants in the case were responsible for ongoing and repeated fraud. On the other hand, the former president's lawyers argued that the charges against him should be dismissed and that there was a statute of limitations on most of the transactions in question in the lawsuit.

Along with the large fine, the prosecutor asked the court to both prevent Trump from operating in New York real estate and prohibit him from running companies in the state.
