The "day after" is taking shape in Gaza. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant outlined Israel's plan for the Palestinian territory on Thursday. The question of the post-war period had become more and more pressing in recent weeks. Itamar Ben Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich, two ministers from Israel's far-right party, have drawn international ire by this week "encouraging" Gazans to emigrate to help Jewish settlers return to the enclave. The presentation of Israel's plan for Gaza also came on the eve of a visit to the Middle East by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, whose country has been advocating for several weeks for an end to the fighting "as soon as possible".
