This week, an operation by the 646th Brigade combat team was completed, in cooperation with fighters from the Yahalam unit in the "Towers neighborhood" in the central Gaza Strip.
The neighborhood consists of tall buildings that dominate the area and serves as a terrorist infrastructure for the Hamas terrorist organization. The buildings in the neighborhood were used as anti-tank and small arms firing positions on our forces, and armed and ready-to-fire rocket launchers, booby-trapped structures, shafts and many IEDs were found. The fighters of the combat team fought battles with an enemy found in the compound, eliminated terrorists and located and destroyed many shafts.

During the operation, the brigade's fighters located large quantities of weapons, sniper weapons, RPG launchers, Kalashnikovs, pistols and rifles. In the vicinity of the compound is a warehouse and a chemical laboratory for the manufacture of weapons. In engineering operations and airstrikes, the brigade's engineering forces and air force destroyed booby-trapped structures, observation posts and shafts underground.
Lieutenant Colonel Erez, commander of Battalion 8105: "We exposed a shaft located in a completely civilian space, where children study every day. The civilian infrastructure and the terror infrastructure are intertwined in Gaza."
