A tragedy has occurred in the "Jump'in" equestrian club in Flémalle, Belgium. A 20-year-old female rider died during a show jumping competition on Saturday. According to the first elements communicated by the Jump'In riding school and the Wallonia-Brussels Equestrian League (LEWB), the young woman was crushed after the fall of her horse.
The competition organised by the club took place internally. "Everything was going very well. The young lady made her second start, her horse stumbled and then pedaled in the semolina," the ride reported to the Belgian news agency Belga. "She fell with her face to the sky and the animal fell on top of her with all its weight. It's horrible, our hearts go out to the family," the club said. Despite the rapid arrival of emergency services, the young woman died instantly.

Even though this competition was not part of the official season, the conditions of supervision and security were met to ensure a smooth running of the event. However, no one is ever safe from an accident," the LEWB said on Saturday evening.
Scheduled to run until Sunday, the competition has been suspended.
