The entire Grand Est region is concerned by this vigilance, as well as Hauts- de-France, Île-de-France and even part of the center, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and the Massif Central. A large north-eastern quarter of France, as well as several departments of the Massif Central are concerned.

While the fresh air is already well installed this Sunday on a good part of the hexagon, Météo France has classified 39 departments in yellow vigilance "great cold" for the day of Monday.

The entire Grand Est region is concerned by this vigilance, as well as Hauts-de-France, Île-de-France and even part of the center, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and the Massif Central. The departments of Nord and Pas-de-Calais remain on orange alert for the risk of flooding.

Lows between -5° and 0° in the North

In the early morning Monday, frosts will be widespread in the interior of the country and the maximums will often remain negative in the north, says Météo France.

In detail, minimum temperatures will be between -5 and 0 degrees in the northern half, between -3 and +2 degrees in the south, between 0 and 5 degrees near the coasts, locally 6 to 10 on the Côte d'Azur and Corsica.

From Alsace to Berry, Limousin and Auvergne Rhône-Alpes to the Pyrenees, precipitation will be quite frequent, with snow above 300 to 400 m. In the evening and the following night, light snowfall at very low altitudes, or even in the plains, will settle from the south of Rhône-Alpes to the Centre-Val-de-Loire.

Measures taken in Brittany and Île-de-France

Although Brittany is not concerned by the yellow vigilance of Météo France, the prefect of Côtes-d'Armor announced on X (formerly Twitter) to have activated the yellow vigilance of the winter plan from this Sunday at 18 pm. This measure makes it possible to open 19 additional emergency accommodation places in the department and to intensify patrols.

According to France 3, a reinforcement of marauding is also planned from this Sunday by the prefecture of Ille-et-Vilaine in the cities of Rennes, Fougères and Saint-Malo.

The prefecture of the Ile-de-France region will also trigger its "great cold" plan, France Inter has learned.

For the future, Météo France warns that the national thermal indicator (daily average of air temperature recorded in 30 representative weather stations of the territory) could fall below 0 ° C Tuesday, which will probably be the coldest day of the episode.

Despite these very low temperatures, the forecaster does not call this episode a "cold snap" for the moment.
