Have you updated the residents? Education Minister Yoav Kisch announced today (Sunday) that the ministry is preparing for the return of students in Sderot and Sha'ar Hanegev communities next month. However, the area did not really express satisfaction.

The Ministry of Education said: "Following the discussion held today (Sunday 07/01) between representatives of the Ministry of Education and representatives of the Takuma Administration, and in light of the Defense Minister's directive that there is no security threat, the Ministry of Education is preparing to return students from communities located east of Route 232, including Sderot and Shaar Hanegev Regional Council localities, on February 4, 2024, to educational institutions. As part of the return process, renovations are taking place in the schools and preparation of the pedagogical teams for the return of the students to an ongoing school routine."

Education Minister Yoav Kish: "I welcome the return of Israeli students to their homes and to educational institutions in the communities affected by the terrorist attack that struck us on October 7. The return of the residents and thus the return of the children to educational institutions is a statement that we do not intend to surrender to terrorism in any way. The Ministry of Education under my leadership has done and will continue to do everything possible for students whose routine has changed, and will continue to provide all the necessary tools for children, parents and teaching staff so that they can return to a normal and optimal school routine."

The Sha'ar Hanegev Regional Council said: "Following media reports, the Sha'ar Hanegev Regional Council wishes to clarify that there is no intention to open the Education Campus during February. At this stage, we are continuing to operate the educational frameworks in the rear and are preparing to renovate and use the education complex starting in March, in accordance with the security situation."
