If you don't feel comfortable in your body, you quickly think about losing weight. But instead of starving, even small tricks can help.

Kassel – Losing weight is not only on many people's to-do list for New Year's Day. No wonder, because sweets and the penchant for hearty food quickly put a spanner in the works of the plan to weigh a little less - especially in December. But losing weight often fails due to small mistakes in everyday life. There are four tricks you can use to get them under control.

Lose weight in no time? What tricks can help

Not all snacks are the same. But often reaching for the wrong nibbles spoils the weight loss success, and quickly causes motivation to drop. A recent study from the UK found that one in four people eat healthily, but make up for it with unhealthy snacks. But which snacks are healthy? The health portal Healthline has compiled a few:

  • Nut Mix
  • Greek yogurt with fruits:
  • Celery sticks with cream cheese dip
  • Oatmeal (but pay attention to the sugar content of ready-made products)
  • Avocado with whole wheat bread
  • Tomato and mozzarella salad

Lose weight easily: Eating snacks at the wrong time can prevent you from losing weight

According to the study from Great Britain, another serious mistake for losing weight while nibbling is also the time of day at which you snack. In the study, the researchers divided the participants into several groups. Those who eat snacks before or after 12 noon, people who tend to eat after 18 p.m. and people who reach for snacks after 21 p.m. in the evening.

Especially for the latter, their habit of losing weight became their downfall. "Late snacks are associated with unfavorable outcomes, possibly due to a shortened nighttime fasting interval," the researchers explain in their study.

Lose weight fast? Which foods you should definitely leave out

Not only are they bad for losing weight, the light variants of Coke, Fanta and Co. can even be harmful to the intestines. This is suggested by research from a British study, which showed that gut bacteria can be affected by the sweeteners.

Even the trendy and popular coffee variations with lots of cream and sweet syrups can make the weight loss goal a long way off. But if water is too boring for you, you can reach for unsweetened teas, for example. Prepared the day before, many varieties also taste wonderful as iced tea from the fridge. Lemon, lime, ginger or fresh peppermint provide the icing on the cake.

The Weight Loss Trick with Portion Size: Simple, but Effective

Smaller portions when eating, smaller snack bags: This can be an effective lever for losing weight in everyday life. This was found by researchers from the USA in a study published in the journal Nutrition Research. They also showed that larger portions led to an average of 22 percent increased calorie intake.

A study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition also showed that it doesn't seem to take long to get used to the smaller portions. The participants who ate smaller portions tended to choose smaller portions a few days later. And they did not do so intentionally. A survey showed that they perceived the smaller portions to be more normal in size, i.e. they got used to the smaller portions after a short time.
