Minister Amichai Shikli announced Monday evening that he has asked Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to step down as Minister for Social Equality. However, Shikli will remain in his position at the Ministry of Diaspora Affairs. Shickley explained the move by "the need to make adjustments in the government in light of the enormous economic challenges we face."
However, Shickley's concession is not significant and certainly not as noble as it may seem. The Ministry of Social Equality, which he had relinquished, was disbanded in the formation of the government and its units were disbanded.
