Saudi Ambassador to Britain Prince Khalid bin Bandar Al Saud refused in an interview with BBC radio to rule out normalization from Israel after the Gaza war, on condition that it paved the way for the establishment of an "independent, sovereign and stable Palestine."
"There is definitely a desire to reach an agreement. There has been such a desire since 1982," the prince said during a radio interview. "We have been taking this line for a long time and have been willing to accept Israel for a long time. This is a reality that we must live with, but we cannot live in peace with Israel without Palestine," he added.
"We were close to normalization before October 7, and we were also close to the establishment of a Palestinian state. One comes with the other. The sequence of events, how we manage it, that's what we discussed. Not only with the Americans, but also with the Palestinians. The Palestinians are an integral part of this," the prince told radio.
Alongside his commitment to continued normalization after the war, the Saudi ambassador also unequivocally condemned Israel. "We would like to see the West treat Israel like any other country. We would like to see a break from the international community, talk of a boycott," the prince said.
