In a telephone referendum on Tuesday, the Israeli government approved a cut of half a billion shekels in favor of property taxes. As part of the cut, NIS 44 million was cut from the Ministry of National Security and the Israel Police, and millions from other ministries. Minister Ben-Gvir wrote in a letter to the Prime Minister: "The Israeli government approved the cut in a quick telephone referendum, and expects to bring an amendment to the government that will cancel the cut tomorrow."

Ben-Gvir opposed the decision and asked to bring the cut to a cabinet meeting on the budget on Thursday. "This is an across-the-board cut of hundreds of millions from a number of government ministries responsible for providing services to citizens, including from the Israel Police, which is responsible for personal security."
Instead of cutting coalition funds in coalition funds for 2024, which stand at over NIS <> billion, the finance minister and prime minister are choosing to cut the important work of the police," he continued.

"I expect your honor to bring an amendment to the government that will cancel the cut tomorrow," he added. "And bring the required budget out of the coalition funds. Especially at this time, the government must act responsibly and not harm the basic budgeting of a government ministry in times of war."
