Commissioner Danny Levy, commander of the Hof district of the police, decided today (Thursday) not to approve the Hadash movement's request to hold a protest demonstration against the Iron Sword War, planned for this coming Saturday night, in the Wadi Nisnas neighborhood of Haifa.
"The tasks facing the coastal district in light of the existing scenarios and threats require a large amount of manpower allocated throughout the district sector in order to maintain human life, public order and public safety, alongside the regular tasks of the police," Levy explained in his decision.

"Taking into account the responsibility imposed on the district commander at this time and the special circumstances that characterize the district these days, including the fear of a violent flare-up between the demonstrators and those who oppose the protest," Levy explained, "it is not possible to allocate the necessary forces to enable the demonstration to take place, which will lead with near certainty to serious and serious harm to public order and public safety."
Shai Glick, executive director of B'Tselem, which opposed the demonstration, said: "It is inconceivable that while we are paying the bloody price of the war, extremist and anti-Israeli people will come and wave flags of incitement and hatred in the heart of Haifa, which until now has forcibly maintained coexistence. The peace and quiet in the city cannot be destroyed."
