There is no dull moment: Along with a series of price increases in many areas, car owners in Israel also had to deal this year with the increase in prices of spare parts, vehicles, insurance, servicing and overall vehicle maintenance.
Data from the "Wheels" platform, through which all types of car service and spare parts can be ordered from thousands of garages, show that spare parts will increase in price by 2023.6-27.48% in 5. These price increases join, as noted, significant increases in vehicle prices. For example, according to Levi Yitzhak data, from January 2023 to December 2023, vehicles increased in price by 9%.
Regarding the various spare parts: In an examination conducted by the "Wheels" platform to examine the extent of the increase in the price of a basket of car parts, seven car brands that appear to be popular in Israel were sampled: Mazda, Skoda, Hyundai, Kia, Nissan, Honda and Citroën. The data shows that the fuel filter increased by 48.5 per cent, the air conditioner filter by 38.5 per cent, the brake plates by 12.6 per cent, the side mirror by 13.2 per cent, the front door by 10.7 per cent, the hood by 9.83 per cent, the brake pads by 9.23 per cent and the headlamp by 6.27 per cent.

Regarding the cost of treatments, it emerges that the prices of treatments have increased by 6.4% and up to 21% for luxury vehicles.
"A year full of upheaval"
According to Sigal Oz, CEO of the "Wheels" platform, "2023 has been full of upheavals and changes in the automotive service industry and its components. Naturally, the changes have increased the need for vehicle owners in Israel to find a reliable and accessible way through which they can streamline the entire procurement process. When it comes to vehicle maintenance, it is important to examine the entire proposal, the treatment specifications, the cost of treatment, as well as the opinions and reviews of the bidders."
Ronen Levy, chairman of the Israel Garages Association, commented on the increase in the price of spare parts, saying: "On January 1, I checked the prices of spare parts, and the prices went up to 30%." According to Levy, "The reason for this is that the five largest insurance companies set the price for themselves and raise policy rates and consumer spare parts prices. Insurance companies are pressuring suppliers to lower the price in order to maintain profitability, thereby raising the consumer price. These are unrealistic prices, so spare parts importers are forced to raise prices."
Research and analysis at Wobi shows that despite the war, car insurance policy rates continue to climb, rising by more than 56 per cent on average in just two years compared to December 2021. Compared to December last year, that is, within a year, insurance companies increased policy prices by an average of about 20 per cent, with the increase in comprehensive insurance by an average of 23 per cent and compulsory car insurance by an average of 11 per cent.
An analysis of data on electric vehicle insurance policies reflects a price increase of tens of percent compared to December 2022, reaching an increase of 30% on average.
