An individual tried to set fire to the door of the mosque in Saint-Martin-des-Champs (Finistère), near Morlaix, during prayers, the Finistère prefecture and the interior minister said on Saturday.

This morning (Saturday) at the time of prayer, an individual tried to set fire to the door of the hall of the mosque of Saint-Martin-des-Champs. The prefect of Finistère, Alain Espinasse, condemns in the strongest possible terms this act committed against a place of worship," the prefecture said in a statement sent to AFP.

Support for the Muslims of Finistère following the degradation of the mosque in Morlaix this morning. An investigation has been opened so that the perpetrator can be prosecuted," Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin said on the social network X.
