To enable couples to get closer to each other again in their free time away from the stress of everyday life, Alexandra Mühlhuber's candlelight marriage course has been available since 2023. Now follows: "Time for two".
Freising – Couples often spend their little time together in stressful everyday life on the sofa with a view of their mobile phones or television. Nice evenings for two can become a rarity. That's why Alexandra Mühlhuber from the Stadtkirche Freising launched a candlelight marriage course in 2023. On seven evenings in October and November, couples got back into conversation with each other, got new impulses and got to know each other in a new way, so to speak. "The course was well attended and was a lot of fun," says Mühlhuber. Hildegard Kirschner, who was also responsible for the course, adds: "We were fully booked with 17 couples, the room couldn't have held more. The response was really good."
Towards the end of the marriage course, several couples asked if they could continue. For this reason, the marriage course has now become a new offer from the Freising City Church.
From January, there will be a follow-up offer called "Time for Two". The first session will take place on Friday, January 19, at 19:30 p.m. Initially, seven dates are planned until July. "It is an offer for couples of all ages who want to strengthen and invigorate their relationship," explains Mühlhuber.
The "Time for Two" offer of the city church in the parish hall of St. Georg in Freising is intended to give new impulses for couples to take time for conversations, but also to offer an exchange in a relaxed atmosphere over snacks and drinks. The couples Margit and Michael Deppisch, Alexandra and Gerd Mühlhuber as well as Hildegard and Helmut Kirschner, who were already responsible for the candlelight marriage course, now also run this offer. It is free of charge and, according to Kirschner, is subsidized by the church. However, a voluntary donation is possible.
"The dates are a bit different from the marriage course. There are thematic impulses that affect couples, but the evenings do not build on each other," explains Hildegard Kirschner. After a time window for conversations for two, this time there will also be the opportunity for an exchange with other couples in a relaxed atmosphere - a wish that arose from the candlelight marriage course. The monthly evenings are intended to be an open and low-threshold offer for couples who want to strengthen their relationship.
For more information and to register, call (01 74) 9 57 32 69 or send an e-mail to Kirschners@weihenstephan.org – up to one week before the date. These are on Fridays: 19 January, 16 February, 8 March, 19 April, 17 May, 21 June and 12 July from 19.30 p.m. in the parish hall St. George.
