Penzberg - The Penzberg Workers' Welfare Association (AWO) once again supported people in the city. Items for daily needs, tickets and pretzels were distributed.

The proceeds from the autumn collection of the AWO as well as donations from business people and private individuals in Penzberg made it possible for the AWO local association again: Many people in the city of Penzberg could be supported "in a meaningful way", reports local chairwoman Ute Frohwein-Sendl.

Of course, the AWO senior center on Gartenstraße was also considered again shortly before Christmas. According to Frohwein-Sendl, all residents received a gift package with a magnifying glass, hairbrush and comb. These were distributed by two young angels and members of the local association in the café of the senior citizens' facility.

Clothes center and knitting circle

On Thursday (18 January) from 14 to 17 p.m., the Penzberg AWO will open its clothing center in the Josef-Boos-Heim (basement). Children's clothing awaits visitors. In the treasure trove of the AWO, you can also find clothing for adults. There are also children's books and toys.

The knitting circle of the AWO meets on Wednesday (17 January) from 14 to 16 p.m. in the Josef-Boos-Heim. If you like to knit or crochet, bring your handicrafts. Interested parties who just want to stop by for information are also invited.

Tafel was supported

The Penzberger Tafel was also supported by the Tafel. The joy of the Tafel guests at the distribution shortly before Christmas Eve was great: There were fresh pretzels from the Penzberg bakery Ahammer. According to Frohwein-Sendl, the campaign was made possible thanks to a "generous donation" from the local association and the "benevolent support" of the bakery.

In this context, local chairwoman Frohwein-Sendl emphasizes that it is "a matter close to the heart" of the AWO to support people in need - but that for a rich state like Germany it is "also very sad that so many people are dependent on the food banks".

"Piorama" cards for children

Another stop of the AWO aid was the curative education after-school care center of the Kinderhilfe Oberland: The joy was very great when the AWO chairwoman brought the children tickets for the new Penzberg family pool "Piorama" worth 150 euros. The children at the AWO after-school care centre on Winterstraße were also delighted to receive tickets for the "Piorama" worth 300 euros.
