Lautaro Martinez continues to have his powder fired in Italy. This Saturday, in a new Serie A matchday, El Toro delivered at the net. In his visit to Monza, the Argentine striker made it 2-0 and then converted from the penalty spot to extend a lead that ended in a 5-1 thrashing.
With these two victories, the native of Bahía Blanca reached 18 goals in the 18 games he played in the Italian Calcio, where he sweeps the scoring charts. His escorts, Milan's Olivier Giroud and Sassuolo's Domenico Berardi, number just 9.
Martínez is also one of the top scorers in Europe since if the five most important leagues are taken into account, England, Germany, Spain, France and Italy, the only footballer who has more goals so far in 2023/2024 is Harry Kane, at Bayern Munich (22 goals in 16 games).
With this win over Monza, Inter are top of Serie A with 51 points, five ahead of Juventus, who will catch up next Tuesday when they host Sassuolo.
