Fifteen people have been indicted, including four for attempted murder, after their arrest as part of the investigation into the attack on the police station in Hagondange (Moselle) during riots at the end of June, AFP learned Saturday from the Metz prosecutor. "Fifteen people have been indicted following the large-scale operation that took place on Wednesday morning in Moselle, where sixteen individuals were arrested as part of a judicial investigation opened after the attack on the Hagondange police station," said Yves Badorc, the public prosecutor of Metz.

On the night of 29 to 30 June, the third night of riots following the death of young Nahel in Nanterre, several dozen people stormed the Hagondange train station and the nearby police station where a police officer was stationed.

More than six months later, Wednesday's raid mobilized "130 police officers, including investigators from the judicial police, with support crews, including the BRI (Research and Intervention Brigade) and the RAID in assistance," a police source said. A total of sixteen people, including six minors, were arrested. They range in age from 17 to 30 years old.

One of them was left free," the Metz prosecutor told AFP. "And of the 15 indicted, four adults have been placed in pre-trial detention, one minor has been placed in a closed educational center, and the others are under judicial supervision," Badorc said. "Those placed in pre-trial detention find themselves with several charges of offence, such as criminal association, destruction of property by dangerous means, possession and transport of incendiary products but above all attempted murder," the prosecutor stressed.

Indeed, during the attack, the head of the police station had been trapped in the police station, unable to get out. The assailants attacked the police station with stones and mortars but were unable to enter the police headquarters. They had badly damaged the front door, which was partially set on fire, and three policemen had been slightly injured in Hagondange during this night of violence.
