A man was in charge of lifting the car. The other pulled out the lug nuts and freed the wheel. The objective was to dismantle a car parked in Recoleta, in broad daylight, meters from 9 de Julio Avenue and while people walked past without preventing the robbery. It was all filmed in a video that went viral.
The incident occurred in Juncal at 900, between Suipacha and 9 de Julio, on Monday, January 8. The victim was a Renault Kwid that was parked in Recoleta, right on the border with the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Retiro.
From inside another vehicle, a person came to record the entire scene. A man carried the weight of lifting the car, enough for his accomplice - crouched - to unleash his expertise to loosen the lug nuts and take the right rear wheel of the vehicle, a practice that has been afflicting the residents of the area.
Wheel theft in Recoleta in broad daylight.
Before the end, one of them took out a black consortium bag, with which they covered their loot and left on foot, without hurry.
While they were developing their little masterstroke, half a dozen people walked by, doing nothing to stop them from taking the wheel away. As soon as a middle-aged woman paused for a few seconds, hesitated to intervene, put her hand to her mouth, and walked away in horror.

Alerted by the situation, personnel from the 1A Precinct of the City Police arrived at the scene a few minutes later. They scoured the area and found the two thieves. The black bag, which they could hardly carry with concealment, exposed them.
The National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor's Office No. 43, headed by Dr. Russi and before the Secretary of Dr. Ramírez, ordered the arrest of the accused. Those involved are two homeless people. They were charged with "attempted robbery".
Meanwhile, the wheel was seized and later returned to the owner of the car.
