This weekend, the barrier of high pressure is gradually receding, protecting France less and less from the clouds that are forecast over the whole country. This Saturday afternoon, as well as Sunday, the sun is still shining in the South, as well as in the mountains, where the weather is radiant, announces the Weather Channel*.
On Saturday morning, grey skies set in across the country. In the afternoon, some sunny spells were to be expected south of the Loire. Between the Paris basin and Hauts-de-France, the sun had a hard time breaking through. This strong North-South contrast can be observed in particular in terms of temperatures, with -1°C in Strasbourg, compared to 14°C in Biarritz.
On Sunday, clouds will begin to break through the barrier of the high pressure system and pass over the English Channel and surrounding areas. Drizzle and even a few flakes could fall between Hauts-de-France and the Ardennes. In the south, the greyness fades, but gives way to a veiled and whitish sun in the afternoon. Some rain is expected to fall in the afternoon in the south of Aquitaine. Morning frosts are to be expected with night temperatures that can drop to -8°C, from the North-East to Corsica. Temperatures will return to low levels everywhere, ranging from 1.9°C to 5.4°C.

In the south of the country, the sun dominates, especially in Nouvelle-Aquitaine and Occitanie, despite some stubborn greyness in the plains. In Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur and Corsica, bright sunshine and few clouds.
From the Grand Est to the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, via Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, the weather remains generally overcast all day... except for the eastern part of these regions where some sunny spells are to be expected. For the most experienced hikers, the summits of the Vosges and the Jura will allow you to pass over the cloud blanket. The same goes for the Alps, where good weather will be the order of the day.
From Hauts-de-France to Île-de-France, greyness dominates, except south of the Loire where the sun prevails in places in the afternoon.
Finally, from Brittany to Normandy, via the Pays de la Loire, the weather is overcast in the morning, but clears up during the afternoon with some sunny spells, especially from the Vendée to the South Finistère.

From Franche-Comté to the Mediterranean, via southern Burgundy and the Centre-East region, the sun could show itself at times above a generally cloudy sky. Sunny spells are expected in the Auvergne and Rhône-Alpes valleys in the afternoon.
In the South-West, grey skies will continue throughout the day and some rain could fall in the evening in the south of Aquitaine.
From Brittany to the north of Lorraine and Alsace, via Hauts-de-France, Normandy and Pays de la Loire, the sky remains cloudy overall. While a few snowflakes could fall here and there in the east, without causing any particular discomfort, the sky could drop a few drops in the west, but no more.
