A "new course" in Parliament? This Tuesday, after three weeks away from the Palais Bourbon, the deputies return to the noisy benches of the National Assembly. While parliamentarians left the lower house in tumult at the end of December after the adoption of the immigration bill, the atmosphere is not expected to be much less turbulent for the first session of 2024.
The debates scheduled for Monday and Tuesday morning have been postponed and the parliamentary precinct will therefore reopen its doors for questions to the government. It was an opportunity for the Prime Minister, Gabriel Attal, and the fourteen other members of the executive to start trying to make their mark on the parliamentary cauldron. This is an opportunity for the elected representatives of the opposition to gauge the answers of the new members of the government. "We're not going to give them a gift. By appointing a government of Sarkozysts, the president will create an atmosphere that is even more detestable than it already was," the Insoumise party said.
