A Green MP was injured in a Last Generation action: a motorist simply ran him over. The politician was not there to protest.
Halle an der Saale – On Monday morning (15 January), Green Party member of parliament Sebastian Striegel took part in a protest action of the Last Generation – not as a demonstrator, however, but as a parliamentary observer. But in the process, he experienced a "blatant incident", as he himself described afterwards to the MDR.
According to the MDR report, a hitherto unknown motorist simply drove over the politician when he was standing on the sidewalk together with a press representative. Then the motorist fled.

Climate activists block road in Halle – motorist drives over sidewalk
Paracelsusstraße in Halle an der Saale was blocked by six climate activists at the time. Striegel and the journalist were standing nearby on the sidewalk when a motorist came up with the idea of bypassing the blocked spot via the sidewalk. He hit the member of the state parliament and then simply drove away. The local reporter was also slightly injured.
"I have pain in my knee and leg, but it's okay so far. It hurts a bit, and I'm going to the doctor to have it clarified," Sebastian Striegel, who sits for the Greens in the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt, told the broadcaster after the incident.
The police searched for the fleeing motorist for about an hour, as a police spokesman told MDR.

Last generation wants to force government to protect the climate – reactions are sometimes fierce
The climate activists of the Last Generation are trying to force the government to implement its climate goals through road blockades and other means of civil disobedience. Finally, the protesters also referred to the current protests of farmers, who are also blocking roads with their tractors to draw attention to their concerns. Representatives of the "Last Generation", for example, showed posters with painted tractors and the inscription "We are allowed to do this. We have tractors."
While the farmers' protest is currently still met with a lot of understanding within the population, the actions of the environmental activists, some of whom are referred to as "climate glue", repeatedly meet with angry reactions. In Vienna, a man kicked demonstrators and dragged them off the street.
Last generation: Activists often do not register blockades
A lawyer clarified to IPPEN. MEDIA explains why the Last Generation has more trouble with the police than the protesting farmers: The climate group often deliberately refrains from registering meetings because it wants to catch people off guard and thus cause chaos. (SMU)
