Electra, a company specialising in ultra-fast charging for electric vehicles, has closed a €304 million funding round, the second largest in the electric charging sector in Europe. This capital increase will enable Electra to advance its plan to accelerate the transition to electric mobility in Europe, installing 2,200 "supercharger hubs" for a total of 15,000 new ultra-fast charging points on the continent by 2030.
Leading the funding round is the Dutch pension fund Pggm. The other investors: Bpifrance, through its Large Venture fund, Eurazeo, Rive Private Investment, the SNCF group and Serena. Since its founding in 2021, Electra has raised almost €600 million in capital in 3 years.
Italy, where the company has been operating since the end of 2022, will also be one of the countries to benefit from this funding; Currently, Electra has inaugurated 5 ultra-fast charging stations (Peschiera del Garda, Pisa, Portogruaro, Rondissone, Lonato del Garda), but the goal is to build a widespread network of infrastructure for electric mobility and open over 3,000 ultra-fast charging points over the next three years.
