Kaufering – After this weekend, it is clear that the Red Hocks will definitely not be able to avoid going into the playdowns of the Bundesliga, and their survival will have to be secured in detention. In the course of the 3-14 thrashing at MFBC Leipzig and the 3-5 derby defeat against FBC Munich, the list of absentees also grew longer and longer.

"Leipzig were simply superior to us, especially in attacking play and in their coolness in front of goal," said stand-in goalkeeper Moritz Ballweg. In the course of the training week, his team had mainly devoted themselves to their own offense and showed decent approaches against the MFBC, but too often remained fruitless. In front of their own goal, however, the Kauferingers kept the place together far too rarely despite their compact approach. Particularly painful: better sequences were often followed by double or triple hat-tricks from the hosts. With attacker Martin Rieß, another important pillar is out injured for a few weeks.

More injured

In addition to Moritz Billes, Christian Brücklmayr and Tobias Hutter, Rieß, captain Marco Keß, Enge Nguyen and Raphael Heinzelmann were also missing on Sunday, Benedikt Richardon, who fell on his hand twice in the derby against Munich, could now be added to the already long list of absentees. It is quite possible that both teams will face each other again in the playdowns from mid-March - although the Munich team may still have a cautious eye on the top; for the Red Hocks, this train has now departed.

On Sunday, both teams played a game at the Sportzentrum that looked like a relegation battle – intense, but repeatedly error-ridden. The Red Hocks got off to a stronger start, with Richardon (5th) providing an assist. A trickling ball, which Felix Haushofer only had to push in (12th), and a simple finish by Richard Kellenberger after a quick pass along the boards later, the Kauferingen were behind, then there was a break.

After all, the often worse second third of Kaufering was cancelled this time. In the power play, the ex-Munich player Moritz Leonhardt made it 2-2 (29th) - even a successful man advantage is not really one of Kaufering's strengths at the moment. With another Munich penalty that followed, the Red Hocks were once again in a good mood. "Actually, we should have taken the lead," says Nguyen. It was bitter that the post got in the way several times. And it was doubly bitter that the former Kaufering and Munich top scorer Luis Rüger scored in front of almost 300 spectators with a pawn trick to make it 2-3 (36th).

With this mood it continued. Antton Lukka, who was once again strong, equalised from distance in the last half (49th), but the harmless finish landed in the opponent during a promising Kaufering attack - a few seconds later, of course, long-time Kaufering player Julian Rüger completed to make it 3-4 (53rd). The final score followed through Luis Rüger (56th).

The Duel

Floorball action will also be on offer at the sports centre next weekend: The second team will host TSG Füchse from Quedlingburg in the cup round of 18 final on Saturday at 17 p.m. "Quedlingburg are the favourites, we'll give it our all again," said coach Tom Richardon. The following day, the Regionalliga Bayern will visit Kaufering; the Red Hocks will take to the ring at <> p.m. with the Lumberjacks Rohrdorf.
